69 in a month. Dealing with age issues as they come but staying active and eating reasonably well with a occasional fast. Surround my self with younger people as well.
Survived liver cancer diagnosed 2014. Transplant 2016. 5 day hospital stay. Was walking day after surgery. 4 weeks later trout fishing in Rockies. Lots a walking at 7500 ft elevation. Tons of clean protein. Was active all my life but that particular event was life changing and very humbling. Im alive because someone else died.
I owe it to the donor to live the life he couldn’t.
Shit happens. Just have to keep getting back up and move. Glass is ALWAYS half full.
God’s has saved me numerous times. The liver story is long but a true miracle.
Steven your story is incredibly powerful and humbling. Surviving such a life-changing experience and staying active, positive and grateful is a testament to your strength and outlook.
The way you honor your donor’s gift by embracing life is truly inspiring.
Keep living fully and sharing this amazing journey.
Your glass-half-full perspective is a lesson for us all!
All the best for you and your future. Stay healthy and let's support each other on our health lifestyle.
Truly Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit have carried me many time on my journey. 2014 through 2016 I should have been dead numerous times yet Im still here. 2015 a horrific car accident ,2am in the remote areas of Yucatan,Mexico.
i was going to visit 1 of my sons .At that time I was on a good bye tour ,I was not going to attempt the transplant option. I was very healthy and thought I rather live a quality remaining time than struggle with all the issue of a transplant.
Well I feel asleep driving and went off the road driving 60mph into the jungle .. I woke immediately upon upon impacting some saplings. My only thought” God Please take me quickly” Car kept knocking small trees down and finally came to a stop. I opened car door and fell onto the ground. I couldn’t breathe, mouth open and fluid coming out of mouth. It was pitch black except for head lights of car pointing up in air toward the road I had jus left. For what seemed like many minutes I struggled to breathe while thinking it had to be blood flowing from my mouth.
Finally I was able to catch my breathe enough to get small breaths of air. Miraculously a taxi from one of the small villages was passing by on a road that sees zero late night traffic. He can down and helped me crawl / walk back up to the road / his taxi.
It was then I realized it was all saliva flowing from my mouth. I had cracked a bunch of ribs that was the cause for the breathing difficulties.
The guy took me to a local clinic of 6 beds ( gurneys) . Where i laid for 7 hours waiting for help.
4:am Im calling every number I have in Mexico. No one answering
So i dial my daughter in Singapore ( 4 pm in her world). She bi lingual ,fluent with Spanish. She explained to the staff on my behalf to get me to a hospital in Cancun 4 hours away. ( they did not understand a word of my Spanglish) My daughter then proceeded to contact several friends i had in Mexico. 1 drove to my sons ranch ( no cellular service ). He came and found me in this clinic ,about 20 miles from his ranch. Now about 8 am.
He proceeded to expedite their version of a private ambulance.
All this time i was laying , un diagnosed. No pain medication,
Not bleeding from anywhere on my body but in kind of a state of shock. Laying naked wrapped in a horse blanket.
Upon arriving to hospital )6 more hours later) they ran all kinds of scans and test on me. Turned out i had fractured 6 ribs and 2 lower vertebrae in back. They gave me some pain meds and released me to my son at my request
He took me to my house which was 18 miles South of Cancun , small fishing village turning touristy. There I contacted a physical therapist who came to the house 3 x per day for a week. Working on mainly the back.
Ribs were wrapped and was nothing to do but heal. She got me well enough in 1 week to get on a plane and back to Utah my home at the time.
I went to a doctor and Hospital to verify all the diagnoses and were pretty much the same. They insisted I needed see specialists for further evaluation .. Well wife drove me home. My therapy was rest and high protein diet.
2 weeks later I was hugging my Daughter in Singapore back on my good bye tour. My son told me when he went back to the site of accident that the car had gone about 50 yards into the jungle before it came to a rest. The tire way missing huge boulders and massive hardwood trees by inches the entire way. 🙏🙏🙏. God was steering the car. I wasn’t
6 months later almost a repeat in accident number 2 This time 2 pm in afternoon. I wasn’t hurt at all and vehicle wasn’t a total. I went off the road coming down a mtn. Feel asleep AGAIN. Crossed lanes missed a few cars in oncoming traffic and ended in a farm field.
Had i gone off the road on my side , i would have gone into a very steep ravine.
Well it was that day that I was told by my liver doctor that I was dealing with bouts of Narcolepsy due to a failing liver.
This is when I realized I could no longer drive a car, I was a clear and present danger to other people.
This is when I accepted the fact I needed to reevaluate the transplant list option .. I did tremendous amount of serious reading and research about the entire process. I was already in decent physical health ( other the dying of c) The tumors were all incapsulated in the liver. Had they metastasized the transplant was no longer a possibility . I worked on getting as fit as possible while waiting for the liver if i would be lucky enough to get a offer.
As i had the cancer My name was moved up on the list. It was not the normal list. Was something they had just started doing. Is called a high risk list.
Meaning the donor could be a list with a history of drug use and other high risk life style activities.
I know its long winded. But stay with me. The real miracles are just about to take place. There is zero doubt in my mind that God saved me for another purpose.
I usually try to find an organic vegan or vegetarian version. Right now I am taking PlantFusion Vegan Organic Vitamin D3 50 mcg. Honestly, I don't take one daily, usually 1 every other day, or sometimes just 3x/week.
I love winter. Actually never get sick in winter months.
Avid skier most of my adult life. The outdoors / sun / clean air / exercise keep me young.
Steven it’s inspiring to hear how your love for the outdoors and active lifestyle keeps you healthy during winter!
Fresh air, sunshine and movement are such powerful allies for the immune system which we sometimes underestimate.
Amazing to hear you stay young and vibrant!

I take a supplement in the winter but I appreciate you mentioning some good dietary sources.
Hey Kendra thanks for your comment!
Happy to hear that you appreciate my insights.
Would you like to share the supplement you take with us?
